More about Decaplage

Decaplage's sandbars create hollow, fast-breaking waves that peel in both directions over sandy bottom, requiring intermediate to experienced surfers to handle safely. The break works best during mid tide with northwesterly to northeasterly swells, and early morning sessions before 9 a.m. consistently offer the most favorable conditions throughout the season.

The spot has been part of the local Algerian surf scene since the 1990s, anchoring a small but tight-knit community of regulars in a region where surfing remains a relatively niche activity. The familiarity among surfers at this beach suggests it has served as a training ground for multiple generations of local watermen.

Located approximately 25 kilometers northeast of Algiers near Aïn Taya, the break sits along a fine sandy beach with minimal development or services. Beyond the lack of lifeguards or rescue facilities, the area sees very light crowds even on weekends, offering a quieter alternative to more established North African breaks.
