Helios Bay is a left-hand break that forms at a breakwater within a narrow sandy cove hemmed by rocky outcrops. Waves begin reliably between 1 and 1.5 meters and can grow to 2.5 meters or larger during bigger swells, producing waves that can run 50 to 300 meters in length. West-southwest swell paired with easterly wind creates optimal conditions, though northwest swells also work here. The break produces waves across mid and high tide during both rising and falling stages, and winter months generally bring the most consistent energy. The bay is severely space-constrained and flanked by sharp rocks on both sides, making entry and positioning difficult. A rip current runs through the cove, and sea urchins populate the rocky areas nearby. The challenging geography makes this better suited to experienced surfers than intermediate paddlers. Despite being Cyprus's most popular surfing destination, the spot remains relatively uncrowded compared to many international breaks, even when conditions are favorable. Located 5 kilometers north of Paphos on the road toward Coral Bay, just below the Helios Beach Hotel, access requires crossing the sandy beach and navigating around rocky sections to reach the break.
