More about Crystals
Crystals is a jetty-fed break adjacent to Absecon Inlet where a rock jetty generates both lefts and a distinctive wedgy right that can throw barrels in favorable conditions. The break works consistently year-round at most tidal stages, though winter—particularly March—sees the most reliable clean conditions. Best realized with northeast swell and west winds, which afford protection and produce the cleanest shape in Atlantic City's lineup. The spot is fairly exposed overall and considered intermediate to advanced, with a single primary peak that limits crowd capacity but draws mostly experienced surfers and bodyboarders.
The sandbar terrain shifts seasonally, affecting wave shape and consistency. Strong rip currents are a persistent hazard along the jetty structure itself. While crowds can concentrate given the small number of rideable sections, most surfers report getting turns during sessions.
Crystals sits at Atlantic City's northern end near the Ventnor border, easily accessed via Atlantic City's free public beaches—a rare advantage on the New Jersey coast.
