More about Cielito Lindo
Cielito Lindo is an exposed beach break with fairly consistent swell throughout the year, though summer—particularly July—produces the best conditions. Waves typically range from six to nine feet, breaking both left and right over sand. Northeast offshore wind creates the cleanest waves, which occur roughly nine percent of the time in July; most days experience onshore or variable wind that degrades wave quality. The spot rarely draws crowds. Water temperature is very cold, around 14 degrees Celsius, requiring a spring wetsuit.
The break is located approximately ten miles south of San Quintín town and about four kilometers from Cabo San Quintín. Access is via Highway 1 at kilometer 11, where signs mark the turnoff to Desert Inn; follow the westbound road for roughly five kilometers on rough pavement to reach the area. A drive-on beach allows vehicle access for miles along the sand. The Cielito Lindo Hotel and RV park, situated near the break, provides lodging and basic amenities. The nearest commercial airport is roughly 170 kilometers north near Ensenada.
