More about Cheyne Beach
Cheyne Beach lies east of Albany on Western Australia's south coast. The City of Albany places it about 68 kilometres from the town and describes shelter from southwesterly winds. Visit Albany also lists surfing among the beach's activities.
Beachsafe places Cheyne at the southern curve of the much longer Hassell Beach, where the shore turns northeast behind Lookout Point and Bald Island. Its coastal description traces decreasing wave exposure toward this southern end, with a different bar pattern from the more exposed northern beach. The settlement and boat-launching area occupy this southern corner. These changes along the coast help explain why the broader beach has varied exposure.
