More about Capo Mannu

Capo Mannu is a left and right reef point break on a rocky headland that produces waves ranging from 50 to 150 meters along the ride. It works on all tides and is best with northwest, north, or northeast winds paired with swells from the south, southwest, or west. During winter and autumn, the mistral wind dominates the area and regularly generates waves of 4 to 5 meters; summer conditions tend to fall flat. The break suits intermediate to advanced surfers, though conditions can deliver powerful, demanding sections. Beyond the sharp rocks and strong currents already noted, the spot attracts heavy crowds when waves are good.

The Italian National Surf Championship, the FISW Surf Games, has returned as a regular fixture, typically held in October and November over several weeks with a waiting period. The event crowns national champions across shortboard, longboard, bodyboard, and adaptive disciplines. Capo Mannu is also host to the Blue Surf Fest, part of a European initiative emphasizing sustainability and adaptive access for surfers with physical or sensory disabilities. Additionally, the area hosts the Capo del Capo windsurfing and kiteboarding competition, reflecting the region's year-round appeal to multiple board sports communities.

The break sits on the Sinis peninsula near San Vero Milis in Oristano province, with beach access at Putzu Idu approximately 30 kilometers south of the provincial capital. The location's seasonal wind and swell alignment produces what has been described as nearly 250 days of rideable conditions annually, a consistency comparable to major oceanic breaks worldwide.
