More about capo di feno

Capo di Feno is an exposed reef break in the Gulf of Ajaccio where peelers form across a central bay when swell is running. Southwest groundswell combined with east-facing offshore winds provides the most reliable shape, though windswells dominate the season and swell windows are often short and opportunistic. The break is most active during autumn and winter when larger Atlantic and western Mediterranean systems align.

The Capo Surf Club opened a formal surf school here in 2006, establishing the spot as a destination for organized instruction. Annual Corsican surf championships are held at the beach, drawing competitors across multiple divisions from the regional league.

The beach is accessible from central Ajaccio via the D111B coastal road, approximately 20 kilometers east through the mountains—a winding drive of roughly 25 minutes. Two separate beach areas exist: the Grand Capo with lifeguard coverage during summer months and parking, and the smaller Petit Capo reachable by the same road but more sheltered. A hiking trail from the Grand Site de la Parata allows foot access in about two and a half hours for those without a car.
