More about Campo Lopez (K-55)
Campo Lopez is a right-hand point break over rocky bottom that can produce waves running up to 100 meters in length when conditions align. The wave develops fast, hollow shapes with good barrel potential, particularly when southwest swells meet northeast winds. It holds form in larger swell and suits intermediate to advanced surfers, with typical wave heights ranging from waist-high to double overhead.
Access requires driving past sand dunes roughly three miles north of La Fonda, which keeps the break relatively uncrowded outside of significant swell periods. Sea urchins are a hazard at this location and have made it known locally as Urchin Point. Summer months offer the most reliable conditions, with October being particularly consistent.
