More about Boca Del Solado

Boca Del Salado is a mixed beach and reef break on Cabo's East Cape that works on both sides of the bay. The best waves arrive during summer months—particularly September—when south swells combine with northwest offshore winds, producing clean faces averaging 1–2 feet, though larger swells do occur. The break accommodates multiple skill levels, with options for both beach and reef peaks offering left and right-hand waves. Hazards are consistent with the region: sea urchins in the water, strong rip currents, scattered rocks along the shore, and periodic water quality issues. Local surfers maintain a sense of place here; visiting with respect for both the lineup and the adjacent Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park is expected.

Boca Del Salado has been part of the East Cape surfing community for decades as part of the broader Baja region that surfers began exploring in the 1950s and 60s. However, it remains less documented and less crowded than flagship Cabo breaks, attracting experienced surfers who seek quieter waves over the resort-town energy of the main peninsula.

The spot sits on the East Cape coastline roughly 20 kilometers from Los Cabos International Airport, accessible by rental car or shuttle from San Jose del Cabo. Accommodation ranges from beachfront vacation rentals to small eco-lodges. Summer is optimal for swell, though sea turtle nesting activity during those months means respecting closed beach areas. The broader Cabo Pulmo area—a UNESCO marine reserve—offers snorkeling and diving between sessions. Local land holdings may charge small camping fees, and adherence to marine park rules is mandatory.
