More about Blue bowls
Blue Bowls is a point-style right-hand reef that extends 200 to 500 meters across a live coral reef. The protected positioning in the pass between Castaways and Five Islands creates an unusually clean, offshore-sheltered setup. The wave barrels sharply at takeoff, then transitions into a series of connected bowl-shaped sections with wide, open faces suitable for both shortboards and longer boards. It handles all tidal stages and ranges from three to eight feet, performing best in the four to six-foot window.
Access is exclusively by boat from Vaadhoo in the southern atolls. The break sits near the local island, allowing surfers to interact with the community alongside their sessions.
I found limited published history of when Blue Bowls was first surfed or specific notable sessions. Current sources note it as a reliable stop on boat charters in the region, with consistent conditions May through October. Maldivian surfer Iboo has competed on the island's circuit.
