More about Biville
Biville is a rarely-workable sand beach break exposed to Atlantic swell, producing both left and right peaks with best results when western swell combines with east-northeast offshore wind. Waves range from waist to head high on the rare days conditions align, typically during spring months with April being the most consistent. Summer renders it almost entirely flat, and consistent waist-slap sessions are uncommon enough that it remains uncrowded.
The dramatic tidal range in this section of Normandy—up to 11 meters between high and low tide—means the beach's character shifts radically throughout the day, narrowing significantly at high tide and opening into a long flat expanse at low tide that's generally unrideable.
Access to the beach requires using marked pathways through the protective dune massif that borders this coast. Parking areas near the main entrance provide visitor access. The spot works best at mid to high tide, requiring planning around the region's intense tidal schedule.
