More about Berry Bay

Berry Bay is a left-breaking beach break with a boulder bottom, consistently rideable year-round and particularly good in summer months. Waves begin forming at around two meters and can reach over three meters during larger swells. It responds best to southwest groundswells paired with easterly winds. The break is sheltered from crowds, rarely getting busy even when conditions are optimal, and is widely regarded as one of the more accessible beginner-friendly breaks on the peninsula, though it has enough size to accommodate intermediate surfers during peak swells.

Access requires a short dirt-road drive from Corny Point followed by a walk down wooden steps to the beach. The setting is scenic and often features dolphin sightings. The main hazard is a significant rip current that develops around 200 meters west of the main break, requiring awareness and proper exit strategy. Sharks are present in South Australian waters, though specific incidents at Berry Bay were not documented in available sources.
