More about Bengello Beach
Bengello Beach forms a broad coastal arc between Broulee Head and the northern entrance wall of the Moruya River on the New South Wales South Coast. Low vegetated dunes back the sand, and reefs lie near the ends of a shore dominated by sandy sediment. Surf Life Saving Australia's guide describes offshore bars and numerous rip channels along this long beach. A coastal study published in 2025 also records changes in bar and rip patterns both along the shore and over time. Its analysis of the June 2016 storm found much less erosion at the northern end than farther south, illustrating how differently sections of Bengello can respond during the same event. These features give the beach a varied character across its length.
