More about Beliche
Beliche works best with northwest swell and north to northeast offshore winds, producing fast, hollow barrels that form around mid to high tide. The break features a distinctive wedge at the western end of the bay where waves peel into sharp, quick tubes close to shore. The beach break sits over shallow rock covered with sand, capable of handling small windswells but requiring substantial northwest groundswell to produce its best barrels. It functions as a seasonal spot, most consistent from October through April when winter swells and offshore wind patterns align.
The break attracts experienced and advanced surfers seeking powerful, hollow waves, with localism traditionally present in the lineup. Beliche remains relatively undocumented in major competition circuits, remaining primarily a local and visiting advanced surfer's destination rather than a contest venue.
The 40-metre cliffside staircase descent remains the primary access point to the beach, with strong rips running through the break during good conditions. Crowds build noticeably when swell is large enough to make the spot rideable, concentrating the lineup at peak times.
