More about Barra de Navidad

Barra de Navidad is a beach break with reef and rivermouth components offering both left and right-hand waves. The break works most consistently during summer months when southwest swell and north-northeast offshore winds align, producing waves typically in the head-high range on good days. The sea floor has flat rocks. The spot suits beginners through intermediate surfers, though it remains relatively uncrowded. Rocks and sharks are present hazards in the area.

A jetty constructed at the town's end historically disrupted what was once the area's primary quality wave, altering its surfing landscape. The spot now draws limited attention despite being reasonably consistent through the year.

Barra de Navidad is located in Jalisco state along the Costa Alegre, approximately three hours south of Puerto Vallarta. The Manzanillo airport sits about 15-24 kilometers away and serves as the nearest entry point, with flights primarily from the US and Canada. The town itself is highly walkable, with the main beach and waterfront easily accessible by foot or short local taxi rides from nearby Melaque.
