More about Bahia TW

Bahia TW is a steep, powerful reef break with rocky bottom that produces fast left-hand and steep right-hand waves. The right is the more dramatic ride—quick, steep, and peeling toward shore. The break performs best during the winter months with WNW swell and northeast offshore wind, particularly on mid to high tides when the wave shape is most defined. Most swells run below five feet, but the spot is highly consistent. Hazards include sharp rocky reef throughout the break zone and subsurface shoals extending roughly a quarter-mile offshore, making experienced footwear essential and the break suitable only for proficient surfers.

Access to Bahia TW requires either a 15-minute boat ride from Punta Mita harbor or a challenging hour-long walk along extremely sharp rocky coastline. Most surfers arrange panga rides from the main beach area. The relative remoteness keeps crowds down, and the spot is less popular than nearby breaks precisely because the access barrier filters out casual surfers.

I could not find documented information about the surfing history of Bahia TW specifically—when it was first surfed, notable sessions, or competitions held there. The broader Punta Mita region has hosted some water sports events, but no major international competitions appear to be regularly staged here.
