History
The Guild Surfboards is a board line built around collaboration between shapers and the Waterman's Guild workshop. Its official account describes retro-inspired designs, including conventional longboards and alternative shapes, developed through discussions about utility, performance and the customer's needs. A shaper forms the blank, which then returns to Waterman's Guild for construction. Ryan Martz's biography credits him with bringing together the shapers and builders to create the line. The workshop has its own earlier history: Greg Martz opened Waterman's Guild in 1983, according to his biography, and retired from his ownership and laminating role in 2017. Those milestones describe the workshop and Greg's career.
