History

Sunset Shapers was a surf shop and shaping space at 3896 Noriega Street in San Francisco's Outer Sunset. A 2011 7x7 feature identified owner James Mitchell and described the storefront, opened the previous fall, as a showroom for his Las Olas Surfboards label. The workshop rented a shaping room, tools and templates, and offered lessons for surfers making their own boards. A 2017 Chronicle report documented Mitchell shaping there. Time Out's listing for the Noriega Street shop is now marked closed; that listing does not establish an exact closure date or the later status of Mitchell's separate label.
