History

Semente Surfboards is an Ericeira label created in 1982 by Nick Uricchio and Miguel Katzenstein. Its history places the partners near Coxos, where access to the waves helped shape their choice of a workshop. The brand describes personal contact between shaper and surfer as central to custom work, with Uricchio responsible for its designs.

The current range extends from small-wave boards and twin fins to performance models, step-ups, eggs, mid-lengths and retro shapes. The Stray is one example of a design developed through team-rider and broader surfer feedback, with PU and epoxy options. A 2012 newspaper visit documented machine rough shaping, hand finishing and fiberglass lamination at the factory; that is a historical view of the process, while the current model pages give the relevant construction choices for individual boards.
