Mica Surfboards is the Portuguese custom-board brand of Amílcar 'Mica' Lourenço, whose surfing and shaping roots are in Ericeira. The brand biography says he grew up at São Lourenço Beach and began working in a surfboard factory at fifteen. It dates the brand's start to 2005, after his professional surfing career. Mica describes a close exchange with surfers and their feedback as central to his shaping. The custom process retains each model's outline, curvature and bottom concept while adapting other details to the rider's size, ability and intended waves. The maker's FAQ says volume is calculated after the board has been designed, so a model name represents a design starting point rather than a fixed volume for every order.
