History
Mark Richards is an Australian surfboard shaper and four-time world champion (1979–1982) who revolutionized performance surfing with the twin-fin surfboard design. Based in Newcastle, Australia, he pioneered the "Free Ride Twinfin" in 1977 after studying under Dick Brewer, becoming the first and only surfer to win a world title on boards he shaped himself. Mark Richards Surfboards continues to manufacture retro twin fins with modern performance enhancements, with Slimes Newcastle serving as the worldwide retail base.
