History
Emery Surfboards is an Australian surfboard and apparel brand. Its namesake's biography says he was born in Byron Bay and developed an early interest in board design and craft while surfing northern New South Wales as a child. Its range brings together performance shortboards, small-wave designs, retro shapes and classic models, with stock and custom boards presented separately. The maker's account connects the business to an early interest in how boards are designed and built.
Emery describes two standard construction approaches. One uses an EPS foam core, plywood stringer, epoxy resin and fiberglass; the other pairs polyurethane foam with a plywood stringer, polyester resin and fiberglass. The brand positions its EPS construction toward lighter small-wave performance boards and its PU construction as its more common everyday build. These are the maker's stated construction choices and intended uses; a particular model and build determine the board's specification.
