History
Boysen Surfboards is a Southern California shaper founded by Steve Boysen, who began making custom boards in Ocean Beach in the mid-1980s and relocated to Oceanside in 2004. Known for the SM Block shortboard design—refined over 30+ years of professional team input—and the iconic '89 Herb model co-developed with Christian Fletcher during the aerials era. The shop produces over 100 boards weekly from a 5,000 sq ft facility and has shaped boards for world champions including Christian Fletcher, Tom Curren, and Andy Irons.
