About
Mid-length surfboards have an intermediate size, falling between a shortboard and a longboard. Unlike funboards, which are wider and more stable boards for beginners, mid-lengths perform better and are more maneuverable due to their refined outline and rocker. Sizes usually range from 6’6″ to 7’6″, the smaller the size, the more agile and less glide it will have, the larger, the higher the response time of the board and the greater the glide. The sensation of glide is nothing more than floating on the wave, feeling above the water, and the longer the board, the less the need to make lateral movements to generate speed, the extended length of the board itself contributes to the accumulation of kinetic energy. Tip: Single fin surfboards have a relaxed surfing experience, they are the ones that dictate the rhythm in the wave, forget rushing your wave, this is a down-the-line board great for maneuvers with open and classic arcs. These boards are fast in a straight line because they have reduced drag because of the only fin. Try to position your foot always a little in front of where the fin is positioned, this way the board will stay loose for curves and maneuvers.
